"I have had the pleasure of getting to know Fathead over the few years from his visits to The Cellar and a visit to New York. He is a truly wonderful man and feel blessed to know them as I do. David plays the way he is: calm, swinging, laid back and cool, but make know mistake this TEXAS TENOR is as tough as they come and he can heat it up with the best of them. The neat thing about this record is that he approached me about doing it rather than the other way around. Its rare that musician of his stature comes to Vancouver to play with a local rhythm section and enjoys himself so much that he has a desire to record with them. This is a huge compliment to the three musicians that make up the rhythm section, and this trio swings very very hard!
"I have had the opportunity to play with Tilden Webb in some of my own projects and he has an uncanny ability to interpret things perfectly without a long discussion or explanation. On this session he asserts himself nicely playing with a more than confident sense of swing and exercising his beautifully melodic chops. One of his two contributions to the group “Lady J” is a highlight of the record. I seem to write about Jodi Proznick a lot because she seems to be playing with everyone these days. Its obvious as to why. She has a wonderfully large bass sound and she swings so hard. Whether its Fathead, Charles McPherson, Ed Thigpen or Dr. Lonnie Smith, they are all amazed by Jodi’s talent. Jesse Cahill is a blast to play with and in general just a fun person to be around. He is an extremely creative drummer without being overpowering but you always know he’s there. He and Jodi hook up so well together and it’s a hard thing to explain but they just have that thing between them that works. This has been an enjoyable record to make and I know that you will enjoy listening to it." - Cory Weeds
